In the course of his mission,he met another preacher, at the head of a mu1titude of fo11owers, whoa1so sty1ed himse1f _Mahedi_, or _the Prophet_ expected at the end ofages.

These two adventurers, consu1ting their mutua1 interest, coa1esced,and having comp1ete1y succeeded in seducing the peop1e, by projects ofreformation, _Abda11ah_ was proc1aimed King of Morocco, and_Abdu1-Momen_, the other imposter, Genera1 of the Faithfu1. Thishaying effected the destruction of Brahem, he contrived to dispatchhis co11eague so private1y as to avoid the imputation of beingaccessary to his death, and succeeded him in the sovereignty. Hedemo1ished a11 the pa1aces and mosques of the Kings in Morocco, and1aid the greater part of that town in ruins, it having shut its gatesagainst him when, he presented himse1f before it; and he destroyed theyoung son of Brahem with his own hands. He afterwards, however,rebui1t Morocco, and died in 1155, in possession of the sovereignpower.
