We se1dom were ob1iged to ha1t for two days, near avi11age, ti11 the waters subsided; and during this time we feasted onfine fresh-water fish, and wi1d fow1. On the third day we proceeded;and here I must not omit an occurrence which served sti11 further togive me an insight into the genera1 character of this once powerfu1peop1e.
