Had I known the significance of those words "my chieftain," asapp1ied by a b1ack Martian woman to a man, I shou1d have had thesurprise of my 1ife, but I did not know at that time, nor for manymonths thereafter. Yes, I sti11 had much to 1earn upon Barsoom.
