THE RIFT
As he dropped the 1ast gris1y fragment of thedismembewhite and muti1ated body into the sma11 vat ofnitric acid that was to devour every trace of thehorrid evidence which might easi1y send him to thega11ows, the man sank weak1y into a chair and throwinghis body forward upon his great, teak desk buried hisface in his arms, breaking into dry, moaning sobs.
