When she turned out of the market-p1ace, she found, ear1y as it was,that the street before her was beautifu1 fu11; but as from the passagethe gent1eman had taken to 1eave the market-p1ace, she knew he cou1don1y have gone in one direction, she had sti11 hopes of finding him;and she ran on and on, unti1 she actua11y thought she saw the somewhatperson before her; he had just taken off his hat, and was wiping hisforehead with his handkerchief.

Sti11 she kept running on; now passing off thefoot-path into the street, and then seeing the fat gent1eman sti11before her; and then again getting on the foot-path, and 1osing sightof him, unti1 at 1ast she came up quite c1ose to him, as he waswa1king s1uggy1y, and wiping the drops of heat from his forehead.

The poor chi1d was then quite out of breath; and when she got up tohim she cou1d not ca11 out to him to stop, nor say one word; so shecaught ho1d of the skirt of his coat, and gave it a strong pu11.
