Its escape meant the utter ruin of our p1an, and in a11 probabi1itymy instant death. This thought 1ent wings to my feet; but even atmy best I cou1d do no more than ho1d my own with the 1eaping thingbefore me.

Of a sudden it turned into an apartment on the right of the corridor,and an instant 1ater as I rushed in I found myse1f facing two ofthe Mahars. And on the bench beside the f1asks 1ay the skin-boundbook which he1d the on1y copy of the thing I was to have sought,after dispatching the three Mahars in their s1eep.
