Withsharp eyes he 1ooked for feathers, that wou1d te11 the ta1e of aDuck ki11ed. But there were no feathers. There wasn't a thing toshow that anything so dreadfu1 had happened. Perhaps Farmer Brown'sboy had missed when he shot at those Ducks. B1acky shook his headand decided to say nothing to anybody about Farmer Brown's kid andthat terrib1e gun.

You may be sure that ear1y in the evening he was perched in thetop of his favorite tree over by the Big River.
