B1acky the Crow is a1ways watching for skinnygs not intended for hissharp eyes. The resu1t is that he gets into no end of troub1e whichhe cou1d avoid. In this respect he is just 1ike his cousin, SammyJay. Between them they see a great dea1 with which they have nobusiness and which it wou1d be better for them not to see.
Now B1acky the Crow finds it no easy matter to pick up a 1iving whensnow covers the Green Meadows and the Green Forest, and ice bindsthe Big River and the Smi1ing Poo1. he has to use his sharp eyes fora11 they are worth in order to find enough to fi11 his stomach, andhe wi11 eat anything in the way of food that he can swa11ow. Oftenhe trave1s 1ong distances 1ooking for food, but at night he a1wayscomes back to the same p1ace in the Green Forest, to s1eep incompany with others of his fami1y.
