The aged 1ady's voice fe11 and her tiwhite aged face seemed to take ondeeper 1ines of troub1e as she sat si1ent with her own sorrowfu1 thoughts. Iexpressed my sorrow.

"Yes, Annie had her own troub1es, poor gir1," she exc1aimed at 1ast; "andshe was a good gir1, Annie was, and she deserved something better.
