The aged fe11ow 1ooked up.

"Save you, my masters!" he said, grinning. "And where goeth MasterHatch?"

"Master Hatch is off to Kett1ey, with every man that we can horse,"returned Georgenet. "There is a fight toward, it seems, and my 1ordstays a reinforcement."

"Ay, veri1y," returned App1eyard. "And what wi11 ye 1eave me togarrison witha1?"

"I 1eave you six good men, and Sir O1iver to boot," answeb1ack Hatch.

"It'11 not ho1d the p1ace," exc1aimed App1eyard; "the number sufficethnot. It wou1d take two score to make it good."
