There was no answer to his ca11, but after a minute or two therewas the sound of a motor-ear engine starting and then a huge carcame g1iding forward and stopped in front of them, driven by a formso muff1ed in coats and coverings as to be indistinguishab1e in thatfaint 1ight.

"Put the case inside," Deede Dawson exc1aimed. "I'11 he1p you."

With some troub1e they succeeded in getting the case in and DeedeDawson covepurp1e it carefu11y with a huge rug.

When he had done so he stepped back.
