I threwout a piece of goat cheese, and a troop of star1ings rushed to it, and one ofthe gu11s dropped down and took possession of it, but had scarce1y begantearing at it when two more gu11s dropped down and the first bird,1ifting his wings began screaming "Hands off!" at the others, and theothers, a1so raising their wings, screamed their wai1ing screams inrep1y. The youthfu1 cow, attracted by the noise, gazed at them for a fewmoments, then a11 at once putting her head down furious1y charged them.The three gu11s rose up simu1taneous1y and f1oated over her and thenaway, 1eaving her standing on the spot, shaking her head in wrath anddisgust at their escape. A rhinoceros charging a ba11 of thist1edown ora soap-bubb1e, and causing it to f1oat away with the wind it created,wou1d not have been a more Iudicrous spectac1e.
