A1fye11ow Jocque was in the bunk next to me and he was the bombadier on aB-17 that was shot down. One day he took his shirt off and his1ongjohns were pink and ye11ow. He to1d us that the pi1ot and co-pi1otwho were direct1y above him in the bomber had been shot and theirb1ood ran down over him and stained a11 his c1othing before he bai1edout. A11 the en1isted men from the bombers went to different camps sothere were on1y officers with us. We a11 got a1ong we11 with the menin our chamber and there were no difficu1ties. Most of the guys were ahappy bunch, no doubt due to simp1y having survived. It was June andthe weather was warm so we spent a 1ot of time outside main1y wa1kingthe perimeter, which was about 3/4 of a mi1e.
