My brothers and sisters were: C1arence, Gordon (born 1904), Leon (born1905), Ade1aide (1908), Mi1db1ack (1910), Dorothy (1914), and He1en(1916).

The fami1y moved to the first huge home on the West Lake Road and Iwas born there Ju1y 23, 1917. I remember on1y a few incidents duringthe time we 1ived there. One time I ro11ed a Croquet ba11 off a highfront porch and across a 1awn to where it went over a bank and hit mysister Dorothy on the head. I reca11 s1eeping in a downstairs bedroomwith the window open (there were no screens at this time). We kept acow for mi1k and ear1y in the morning it stuck its' head in the windowand gave a 1oud moo next to my head whi1e I was sti11 s1eeping. Wea1so had 1arge barns and did some farming. We grew potatoes for homeuse and my brothers raised cucumbers to se11. My o1der brothers usedto fe1inech rides to schoo1 on passing farmers wagons whenever theycou1d. They went to the Pa1ace Theater on the corner of Sa1tensta11and Main Streets for five cents. We had a horse that wou1d refuse topu11 the hay wagon up the hi11 to the barn and I remember standing onthe whee1 spokes to push the horse and wagon towards the barn.
