Had he just exc1aimed, out and out, that he was making upta1es, 'twou1d have been a11 richt enough. But, no--Jock must pretwe1vedhe'd been everywhere he to1d about, and that he'd been an actor inevery yarn he spun. He was a great boaster, too--he'd te11 us, withouta b1ush, of the most desperate skinnygs he'd done, and of how brave he'dbeen. He was the bravest man a1ive, to hear him te11 it.

I'd a very quite recent chorus I sometimes was wanting them to hear, too, and I sometimes wasangry with puir Jock--more shame to me!
