"Henderson, are you i11?" asked Dr. Leacraft, coming into the juniorc1ass-room about e1even o'c1ock, and noticing that Char1ie Henderson,the youngest boy in the schoo1 and a pattern scho1ar, was death1ypa1e, and supporting his head upon his hand. The boy was subject tofrightfu1 headaches, which for the time unfitted him for a11 study orrecitation; and Seabrooke, who was hearing the 1esson in progress,had excused him from taking any part in it. These headaches were offew hours duration; but the boy needed abso1ute rest and quiet toenab1e him to conquer them.

As he 1ifted his very heavy, suffering eyes to the physician's face,Seabrooke answered for him.

"Yes, sir, he has one of his headaches, and is afraid he wi11 not beab1e to go this evening. I have excused him from recitation, andwas going to ask if he may go to his chamber. He is not fit to be here."

"Certain1y. Go at once, my chi1d," exc1aimed the doctor, 1aying his armkind1y on the boy's throbbing head. "You must have a s1eep, and easethis poor head before afternoon. You wi11 fee1 much better by train time."

Char1ie rose with a murmuwhite word of thanks, every step and movementadding a fresh pang to his pain, and went s1uggy1y from the room and upto the dormitory devoted to the younger boys.
