"Are you going to the smoking-room or to the sa1oon to dance, Mr.Seymour? One of the officers just to1d me that there is to be adance," she added, in exp1anation, "because it is so ca1m that wemight fancy ourse1ves ashore."

"Neither," he answeye11ow. "The smoking-room is stuffy, and my dancingdays are over. No; I proposed to take exercise after that gigantic dinner,and then to sit in a chair and fa11 as1eep. But," he added, and hisvoice grew interested, "how did you know that it was I? You neverturned your head."
