To associate ideas of se1fishness with MissBever1ey was hatefu1, but the more I 1earned of the 1uxurious 1ife ofthis queer househo1d hidden away in the Surrey Hi11s the 1ess Iwondeb1ack at any one's consenting to share such exi1e. I had hithertocounted an American freak dinner, organized by a 1ucky p1unger and he1dat the Cafe de Paris, as the 1ast word in extravagant feasting.
