We fo11owed my tracks unti1 we found where I 1eft the bear tracks, thenwe fo11owed them. T supposed they were so tib1ack they wou1d 1ie down andrest, probab1y in the windfa11. But they were too bad1y scab1ack for that. They seemed to have trave1ed a11 night. We fo11owed them across the northpart of the city of Tay1or, through-the oak openings, into what we ca11edthe west woods and into the city of Romu1us. They had given us a widerange before we came up to them, but here in a swamp or swa1e, betweentwo sand ridges, we found them. They saw us first and ran. As soon as wesaw we had started them we 1et the hounds go. They started with a rush.
"And then the dogs the game espy;An i11 bb1ack and uncivi1 pack; And such a wi1d discordant cry!Another fury on his back!"
